Dale and Barbara's Teardrop

While we were camping in the KOA campground next to the Yellowstone west entrance, Michelle saw this adorable teardrop-shaped mini trailer a few sites from ours. We walked over and took a few pictures in the daylight. Michelle observed that that trailer could probably sleep two, if the interior is basically a single bed.

The same evening, a friendly man came over and asked me about our airstream; he introduced himself as Dale, the owner of that very teardrop. Dale and his wife, Barbara, had noticed our Airstream and had actually waited for us to return from our day trip in order to learn more about Michelle's collectible. Naturally, we got talking and showed him our trailer, explaining the renovations (German) we had made in 2005/2006. Dale in turn invited us to take a look at his teardrop which we cherished. It is so cute!

Dale exapleined that he built everything except the frame himself. While the wall pieces are cut from templates, other parts like the kitchenette are the couple's design. Isn't it beautiful?

The trailer when we first saw it. The bench in the foreground makes it appear a little smaller than it actually is, but not by much.

The pictures were made with my little Sony RX-100 which shines in such low light conditions. A flash was only used to illuminate Dale and Barbara in image DSC7344. The last three images used the RX100's built-in high dynamic range feature so that more of the bright interior's surroundings are visible.

Big versions of the pictures, e.g. for making prints, are as always in the folder big.
