On Sauvie Island

The Burrills showed us Sauvie Island in the Columbia River. It's more than 100 km2
large and features a couple of nice beaches, as you can see in the pictures :-). About a thousand
people actually live on the island, which is also a bird sanctuary. We built a marble track on the beach slope (and everybody had to carry water for that because the sand was very dry), while David and Devon were tossing a football. That was a very nice day at the river. I guess Doris isn't in the pictures because she took them — thanks, Doris! |
Die Burrill-Familie zeigte uns die Sauvie-Insel im Columbia River, mehr als 100 km2
groß. Wie man sehen kann, gibt es tolle Strände. Es leben sogar ungefähr 1000
Menschen auf der Insel, inmitten von Vogelschutzgebieten. Wir hatten viel Spaß dabei, eine Murmelbahn zu bauen, einen Football zu werfen und mit der Frisbee zu spielen. Das war ein wirklich schöner Tag. (Das Wetter war übrigens typisch für September.) Ich denke mal, dass Doris deshalb nicht in den Bildern auftaucht, weil sie sie macht — danke, Doris! |
